## About the bank
Alatau City Bank is the new name of the bank many people know as Jusan Bank. The legal entity has a long history: its predecessor was ABN AMRO Bank Kazakhstan, followed by ExpoCredit (2016), First Heartland (2018) and Jysan (2019). The shareholders' meeting on 15 May 2025 decided to change the name, and re-registration was completed on 16 June 2025. The bank gives 1993 as its founding year.
Since July 2025, 100% of the shares have belonged to Vyacheslav Kim, a co-founder of Kaspi; the deal was made with Galimzhan Yessenov. The Jusan brand is being withdrawn, and non-banking services (delivery, tickets) have been closed since 25 September 2025. The bank is 6th by assets, at about 3.33 trillion KZT in the finratings.kz catalogue on 16 October 2026, and states 85+ branches in 43 cities.
## Account for non-residents
There are no published terms for non-residents on official pages, and no data on Russian citizens. In practice this means a personal visit to a branch is needed, with a passport and an IIN, and the exact list of documents about your stay depends on the branch. The bank does not serve foreigners remotely. Call the contact centre (7711) and ask whether the chosen branch accepts foreigners and which confirmations are needed. Whether the bank applies the changes of the ARDFM decision of 21 September 2026 for non-residents, and when, should also be asked there.
## Cards and payments
Card products for non-residents are not singled out on the bank's website, so we cannot name a specific card. Payment systems and card currencies should be clarified when you apply. The bank does not serve Mir, and there is no confirmation of the Faster Payments System (SBP) working in the country.
Because of the rebranding, documents may name the bank differently: First Heartland Jysan Bank, Jusan, Alatau City Bank. Internet banking from the website leads to ib.jusan.kz, so make sure you arrive from the official site, alataucitybank.kz, before entering any data.
## Who it suits
Alatau City Bank is worth considering if you live in Kazakhstan and value a wide branch network, including outside the big cities, if you have used Jusan before and want to keep a familiar bank, and if you are ready to go through opening in person and clarify the terms in advance. For quick and remote options, look at Freedom Bank Kazakhstan. For tenge payments, Kaspi Bank.
