## About the bank

Kaspi Bank is part of the Kaspi.kz group, a public company whose ADSs trade on Nasdaq and whose shares trade on the Astana International Exchange (AIX). The shareholder and chairman of the board is Vyacheslav Kim, who has also owned Alatau City Bank since July 2025. According to the finratings.kz catalogue, the bank was founded in 1991.

By the Q1 2026 report, consolidated assets of Kaspi.kz were about 11.09 trillion KZT on 31 March 2026. This is a group figure, not the bank alone. Kaspi is familiar to almost every resident of the country, which makes it one of the most practical options for permanent life in Kazakhstan. The app is available in Russian and Kazakh, and the Kaspi Guide help centre answers common questions. Support is in-app chat and the free number 9999 from a mobile phone.

## Account for non-residents

A foreigner without a residence permit gets the card only in a Kaspi.kz branch. With a residence permit, the application can be submitted in the app. The official terms require:

  • a passport (original);
  • a Kazakh IIN: the original, a copy or the message from 1414 with a link;
  • a smartphone with a Kazakh phone number;
  • one document confirming lawful stay: a visa (including an e-visa), an arrival or stay notification, a temporary residence permit, a study certificate, a residence permit, a work permit or another document from the bank's list.

Citizens of Russia, Turkey, China and other OECD countries also need the tax ID (TIN) of their country of citizenship and the address where they actually live there. US citizens must provide FATCA documents.

## Cards and payments

The main product is the Kaspi Gold debit card with a tenge account. The payment system is not named on the official terms pages, so do not count on using the card outside Kazakhstan, and especially not in Russia. The non-resident card is unnamed and may not be accepted when renting a car or housing. The bank does not issue Mir cards.

## Who it suits

Kaspi Gold fits people who live in Kazakhstan or visit regularly and want to pay through an app, who are comfortable with a tenge account and a low service fee, and who already have an IIN, a local phone number and a Russian tax ID. For several currencies, look at Freedom Bank Kazakhstan or Bank CenterCredit. For a Mir card, choose VTB.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Russian citizen get a Kaspi Gold card?

Yes, with an in-person visit. You need a passport, an IIN, a Kazakh phone number, a document confirming lawful stay, plus a Russian tax ID (TIN) and a home address in Russia.

Does a Russian citizen need a Russian tax ID for Kaspi?

Yes. Citizens of Russia, Turkey, China and other countries on the bank's list must give the tax ID of their country and their actual home address. If the passport has no TIN, another identifier such as a social security number can be given.

How much does Kaspi Gold cost?

Service is free for the first year and then costs 1,995 KZT a year. The fee is charged only if the card was used. The issue fee is not stated on the bank's terms page.

Can a Russian phone number be linked to the Kaspi app?

No. The app requires a number from a Kazakh operator, and a foreign number cannot be linked. For this reason a SIM card is usually bought locally before visiting the bank.

What happens to a non-resident's card when it expires?

According to reviews, a foreigner's card without a residence permit is valid for 12 months, and reissuing cards obtained after 19 January 2025 requires a branch visit. The account keeps working in the app without a card. The ARDFM decision of 21 September 2026 removes the card validity limit, but its start date depends on official publication.
